Home office (deductions)

Note: tax home= regular place of business or post of duty may or may not be home, where family lives, it is where your business is located.

If you use your home for workspace you can deduct portions of your mortgage interest, rent, utilities, depreciation, and insurance of your home (via home office expense).

More info and specifics on how to tax your home office in our library under tax and asset protection.

Traveling - your duty needs you to be away from your tax home for duration longer than normal hours. You need to sleep or eat to meet work demands while away from home. (Bag to ship charge, lodging and meals, laundry, phone, tips).

If you use your car for work and personal use you should divide the expense based on actual mileage.
